From Banks: “The detail/close up of the shattered mirror was taken from the documentation produced for a museum exhibition I did earlier this year in Charleroi, Belgium (at BPS22, from 2/24 thru 5/24). Specifically, that image is taken from a sculpture consisting of a series of mirror (glass) panels, arranged on a frame so all the panels form one single mirrored screen. The frame itself is a welded steel structure with separate sliding “frames” attached: each mirror is secured within the frame, and the frames are all connected to a series of hydraulic cylinders. Over the course of the exhibition the hydraulic cylinders slowly compress, shattering each frame (essentially) in slow motion.” Hand-cut edit by Jesse Draxler.
